Lodge Kelso & Tweed No. 58 is delighted to support local student Elsa with a donation of £200 towards her international Girlguiding volunteering expedition to Nepal and India in August 2026.
Elsa, who is originally from Kelso, has been involved with Girlguiding since the age of four, beginning as a Rainbow with Abbey Row in Kelso. She is currently studying at Newcastle University while training as a Girlguiding Leader with a Brownie unit in Fenham.

During the two-week expedition, Elsa will volunteer at a school and an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal, supporting teachers and working with local children alongside fellow Girlguiding Leaders. She will also take part in international Guiding programmes at Sangam, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) World Centre in India.
The experience will further develop her leadership, communication and teamwork skills while giving her the opportunity to experience different cultures and communities. On her return, Elsa hopes to share what she has learned with Girlguiding members in both Newcastle and Kelso, helping to inspire younger members to broaden their horizons and embrace new opportunities.
Lodge Kelso & Tweed No. 58 was pleased to support Elsa’s fundraising efforts and wishes her every success on what promises to be a rewarding and memorable experience.
